Precautions to take with kids who have cold sore

You have to take care of your child if he has suffering from cold sore. It is a infectious disease so you have to more concerned about your child health.

  • Keeping their drinking glasses and eating utensils separate from those used by other family members and washing these items thoroughly after use

  • Teaching them not to kiss others until the sores heal.

  • Do not let children share toys that other children put in their mouths.

  • Clean toys occasionally with a disinfectant.

  • Having them wash their hands frequently and as soon as possible after touching the cold sores

  • Trying to keep them from touching their eyes — if HSV infects the eyes, it can be very serious

  • Try to stay healthy them by eating healthy food, getting enough exercise and sleeping well

  • Try not to get sunburn on your child face (use a hat and sunscreen, or stay out them from the sun).

If you're caring for a child with a cold sore, you also should be diligent about washing your hands frequently so that you don't contract the virus or spread it to others. Use gloves to apply medicated ointment to a child's cold sores.
